Ms. Christy's Class- Final Post for the school year!

Hi everyone!

Time FLEW BY this school year! I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that it is the last week I will be spending with my special little friends! What a wonderful year we have had together learning, growing, and developing into BIG kids! It has been an honor teaching every single child in the 2's and 3's class. I encourage you all to come to the play groups on Tuesdays this summer. I'll be making an appearance with my two, so at least the fun doesn't have to end this week. :)

Our unit for this week is Farewell Friends. We'll be making friendship bracelets, Father's day crafts, a special something for the CCP graduates, and re-visiting some of our favorite songs, games, and small group stations to end the year on the happiest of notes. The long-awaited portfolios will be
completed and ready for viewing on Wednesday & Thursday. If you are a family who WILL NOT be returning back to CCP for the fall, you may take the binder with you. If you are returning for the 2012-2013 school year, you will be able to take your time and flip through your child's portfolio and then I'll store it away for safe keeping for the next teacher to add to.

Thanks for the love, support, and volunteering you have done for me and my classroom! You are all SO appreciated and I am glad to have gotten to know you this school year. Hope to see you all at play groups! :)

We will continue our Outdoor Adventures theme this week. It's been so fun having a tent in the classroom and talking about all things camping! Turns out two friends had either a recent camping trip or have a trip coming up! This week we'll touch on some more camping topics and switch gears a little to talk about sports and other outdoor activities. We'll end the week with a Cornerstone Olympics/Field/Splash Day this Thursday and Friday! More specific details coming soon!

Hi Everyone!

Exploring space and the night sky was a ton of fun with the two's and three's! I saw and heard lots of creative imaginary play in our spaceship! We made moon dough (and got very messy!), learned a lot about stars, and discussed astronauts and what they might do and see; sprinkled in with some parent conferences. It was a great two weeks! We're moving on to a two week unit on Outdoor Adventures! This week will focus on Camping and the forest. We'll be doing some brainstorming of camp site gear, painting with natural elements, will be fine tuning our sorting skills, and we'll be reading some great stories!

**In order for this week to be really great, I could REALLY borrow a small tent to fit in the classroom for our Campsite dramatic play area. (Ms. Mary, is yours
already spoken for?) We'll take super great care of it! :) Also, please save and bring in your paper towel and toilet paper rolls to make a fan favorite craft/dramatic play tool! :)**

I'd also like to thank the parents who put together and attended the Teacher Appreciation event. I had a wonderful time with you all and loved all the goodies I left with. I feel very much loved and appreciated!

Fundraiser & Ms. Christy's Class- 2 week unit on Space

Hi Families!

It's been a fun 2 days beginning our unit on Space/Our Night Sky! This week we will focus on night time, the moon, and stars as we add detail to our classroom space shuttle! I am putting the decor in the hands of my 2's & 3's, I can't wait to see the end result! As we discover our universe, we have fun new songs to learn, projects to complete, and activities I hope my friends will enjoy.

I'm hoping to have a great turn out for Thursday's fundraiser! I know it's a busy time of the school year, but YOU deserve to be treated to a night of pampering and fun! 30% of the sales will be donated to Cornerstone- but you don't have to be at the event to help our school...

*Any outside sales I receive (through my website, phone, email, etc.) on Friday
will also count!*

Ms. Christy's Class- April 16-20

Hello Everyone!

The 2's and 3's are entering week 2 on "Animal Encounters" on Monday. Last week we focused on Zoo animals. We made zebras, birds, played with new manipulatives, did some animal acting, and discussed animals habitats. I see my friends really enjoying our week exploring the farm. We will visit favorite farm songs, will check on and discuss the chicks in the incubator, act out Mrs. Wishy Washy and will do some planting- just to name a few!

Looking forward to a great week & a wonderful Parent Appreciation event Friday night- hope you are all able to attend!

Hello and Good Evening!

Spring Things is the 2 week theme we will begin on Monday! We will focus on spring weather, birds & nests, trees, rainbows, flowers, and growing things in a garden. Our activities, songs and books will be surrounded around these things. The kids will get a kick out of some things I have planned for our mornings together. We will be keeping track and measuring things in our backyard garden, sorting, "growing a rainbow," exploring new small group stations and (as always) creating several works of art!

I hope everyone is refreshed from the break and ready to come back to school! ;)

Hello Friends & Families!

Fun and fantasy was certainly a hit last week! We could have spent weeks on this theme, but at least we were not short on fantastic ideas, experiences and activities. Thanks to Ms. Christina for putting together a great Medieval Children's Event for Community Circle. My friends enjoyed the various games, crafts, and treats she worked so hard on!

I am happy to announce that the ever-popular, fascinating 2 week unit on Dinosaurs will begin tomorrow! You can bet your child will take part in several science activities, put together art projects, learn new Dino songs, take part in new large motor games, and will hear some silly and educational stories about Dinosaurs! Feel free to bring in some of your own dinosaur toys and manipulatives for us to
borrow.

Random Request: If any of you have some new green (of any shade) and/or brown crayola crayons that you are willing to part with, it would really be helpful in creating our class masterpiece for the Pancake Supper Auction Item! :) Bring them in Monday and Tuesday, please!

Good Evening!
 
We will begin a 1 week unit on Fun & Fantasy tomorrow! Our days will be focused on a book a day with activities and learning planned accordingly. We will be reviewing favorite nursery rhymes, brainstorming favorite fantasy stories, attempting to re-tell a few of them, and will have a puppet and dress up dramatic play area just to name a few.

Hello everyone!

Last week, I enjoyed seeing my friends begin a multi-step project on mailing a letter to a loved one. We created stationary, I dictated a message for them, and each child drew a picture. This week, we will make our project come full circle by completing the final steps in mailing a letter!

I'm looking forward to another week on communication and sending messages with an emphasis on all things Valentine's! We have lots of new experiences and activities coming up this week! We will kick off our week with Valentine's Day Parties on Monday & Tuesday. Please make sure you send a small box ready to be decorated for your child and Valentines for each friend in the class. Refer to Marni's email sent on Friday for more in depth details if
needed.
